Windsurfing: Ynyslas Wind Direction: WNW Wind Stength: 25-35 knots Surf / Sea State: 3 foot messy surf Air Temperature: 6ºC Sea Temperature: 9ºC Weather: Cloudy then rain Max Speed: 23.3 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 7.4 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
We haven't had wind for a while so despite the cold (which wasn't that bad)
this was a welcome change and time to get out windsurfing.
I headed over and played with my new toy, a GoPro HD camera. i set it up on
my wheel-barrow and recorded myself rigging then set off with my 4.5m sail
and Naish Hybrid Freewave board. I attached the camera to the clew end of
my boom and headed off into the white-water.
I was nicely powered and having a good sail and the camera seemed to be
working. Lots of little jumps although this isn't my best tack for such
things. After a while I came in for a rest and popped up to the car park
where I saw Tom. I helped him rig and then went back out.
Once again I was well powered and having a good time with some nice jumps
and then I launched myself into a push loop. I've never tried one before
and the spin was much quicker than I expected so I ended up coming down the
right way up and pretty much landing it. I was amazed and just stood there
looking at my feet before falling in. I didn't sail away from it but I'm
pretty stocked all the same.
